Dinner at The Town Dock I am finally able to post the picture

We did go over to the Town Dock and had a great dinner. The pictures are not very good because by the time I went back to the boat to get the camera the sun was almost down. Since one of the picture has all three of us in it I will show them to you imperfect or not.
I have had trouble getting the picture of the three of us having dinner in St Michael's

Our first gam

Yesterday was slow starting we went inti register at about 2:30. We talked to the people from Canvas Creations about putting a zipper on one of our windows the opposite way, then returned to the boat. At 4:00 we went back to listen to the Coast Guard talk about what they wanted if you were boarded, but the Coast Guard did not show up. The replacement was a discussion concerning anchoring in Florida.
I left Trish and Kelly to get our dinner from the boat. On my return the cocktail party had begun. We met a lot of very nice people all of whom had been or were going to the Bahamas.
By the time of the pot luck dinner there were a lot of boats in the bay.

A return to nice weather

Today is the start of the GAM. The going south raft never happened. I think that boats are slow arriving due to windy and rainy weather. No sign of any other Canadians.

Septenber 25 Camp Lets

First I have been having some trouble with internet service. Some of the posts may be out of order.
We got to the SSCA GAM yesterday so as to be on time for the going south raftup, but it did not happen.
We just heard that Annapolis had fog this morning and that the wind on the bay gusted to 34.
Sounds like it was a good idea to come yesterday after all.

Our trip to Letts Camp and the SSCS gam

Today we travelled across the bay. Not in a straight line but a line with several s turns in it. We hat to go 16 nautical miles. We hit a record speed of 8.9 knots and took 4 hours.
The bay was a list little rough with up to 25 knots of wind. It did not bother us or the boat until we turned off into the wind yo take the main down

Everywhere you go there is a picture

St. Michael's

The Town Dock where we most likely will have dinner

St. Michael's

With little trouble we got to St. Michael's just as we finished lunch. We have not gone onto town but thought I would send some pictures. This trip so far has been very scenic.

Breaking (very inappropriate word) news

We have successfully made it under our first 65 foot bridge, at low tide. We also radioed our first bascule bridge. The bridges were at Kent Narrows just east of the Annapolis Bridge.

Tuesday Sept 23 off to St Michael's

Once again it is cool but beautiful. We are headed through the Kent Narrows, under our first 65 foot bridge ( at low tide) and on to St Michael's. I have read it is a very nice town.

In Chestertown for the night

We went into the restaurant at the docks and Trish said the crab cakes where they
Best she had ever had. The journey up the river was un eventful. Great scenery with a lot of large old homes. With Notre Dame not playing there is nothing to cheer about. I will just leave you with some pictures of The Chester River.

Saturday on The Chester

We have nothing better to do then motor sail up The Chester River at just over 7 knots. We are going to go to Chester town, which is about 25 miles up the river.

September 20

It is 11:48 and have over stayed our welcome. We were just reminded that checkout is 11:30. We are headed south and will stay on the east side, but beyond that we don't know were we will end up.

Friday September 19 Rock Hall

We made it to Rock Hall for lunch on the boat. After lunch I fixed the broken bilge pump and Trish and Kelly did the laundry. While it dries Kelly and I went for a walk.

September 19 we are headed for Rock Hall

Today we are going to Rock Hall. Once again the current is with us. With the GiB out, wind at our backs and 1700 RPM WE ARE DOING 7.8 knots.
The picture is the back part of a range.

Turner Creek

We stopped for the night just off The Sassafras River. It was tight getting in but the channel was well marked.
When we got here there were 6 boats, but the all left within half an hour.

Crab pots everywhere

We are now in the Chesapeake and heading for The Sassafras River. We most likely will stay at Turner Creek. We saw some Crab pots yesterday but today we have seen mayb 500 or so. Here is  a picture of one.

More Chesapeake City

Chesapeake City Sept 18 I think

We have come into town to look around and have breakfast. Trish and Kelly are searching the GPS for a restaurant.

TheDelaware River

We had to wait a long time for the tidal current to come but when it finally did we did 8 knots. Then it was dying away and we went down to less then 7 knots. As we were hopping it would not go against us it picked up again to the point that we hit 9.1 knots or about 2.25 knots of current.

Thought you would like some pictures of the river and canal.

Sept 17 rounding Cape May

Today is another perfect day. Yesterday I inquired as to how far out I had to go to get around the cape. I was told that if I stayed really close to shore I would have lots of water. You will see in the picture just how close we came.
Tonight with several other boats we will be in Chesapeake City, which is in The C and D Canal. We are currently sailing with a north east wind of 12.6 knots. The time is 9:57 this means the tide has just turned and pretty soon we will be riding the flood tide up the pay.
